Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is a Chinese tradition festival. It is the most important festival for the Chinese people. We also call it the Spring Festival.
There is a shopping spree before the Spring Festival. The streets and inside of shops are crowded. People also do a big cleaning to their house. This is means a fresh start for the upcoming year. Families in China decorate their front door with couplets. Hope the New Year will be a good year.
On Chinese New Year's Eve, all the people sit around a table and have a big family dinner. There are many delicious foods and some drinks. Overall, this is a celebration dinner. After dinner, we also watch New Year programs on TV. At abbout 12 o'clock, parents and children light crackers. The whole sky is lighted brightly. On the first day of the Spring Festival, most people get up early and say 'Happy New Year' to each other. For breakfast, people often eat dumpling. After breakfast, children often paly games. For example, play Jenga and so on. On the second and third day, we visit friends and relatives. Everyone is busy on Chinese New Year, and everyone is happy, too.
Chinese New Year 2012 begins on the Monday, January 23 2012.
